Cristiano Ronaldo confirms his stay with the Portugal national team ahead of the Nations League match vs Croatia

Emphasising his will to keep helping the Portugal national team, Cristiano Ronaldo discounted any thought of quitting international football in the near future at a Monday news conference. Cristiano Ronaldo said:

“When the time comes, I’ll move on. It won’t be a difficult decision to make,”

“If I feel like I’m no longer contributing anything, I’ll be the first to leave,”

“People’s expectations of the national team were too high,”

Currently with Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia for over two years, the five-time Ballon d'Or laureate could not hit the net during his record sixth appearance at the European Championship this year as Portugal dropped out in the quarters. Ronaldo confirmed his relentless dedication to the national squad in front of media criticism, and he appreciates Coach Roberto Martinez's backing. It is important to note that Ronaldo provided an assist during the competition, but many people objected to the midfield and wing issues within the team, which led to less and poor chances creation for the star striker.

There is no doubt that Cr7 is the greatest goal-scorer of all time; he has a chance to score his 900th career goal against Croatia. He has been in fine form with Al-Nassr and has scored 60+ goals for the Saudi Pro League team since his arrival. He recently received a special award from UEFA for being the greatest player of the UEFA Champions League.

The football world awaits Cristiano Ronaldo in Portugal’s jersey, he has already scored 130 goals for his nation, the most in the history of international football. He will reunite with his former Real Madrid colleague, Luka Modric, at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica.
