Following the first leg of the quarterfinal match between France and Croatia, France went into the clash with a 2-0 goal deficit following the defeat in the first leg. As the two teams met in the second leg, France who won the FIFA World Cup in 2018 and were the finalists in 2022, were desperate to turn the match around. With this, France managed to score 2 goals against Croatia, pushing the match into extra time and then into penalties. France managed to get the better of Croatia in the penalty shoot out and booked a place in the semi-finals.
France went into the match with a desperation to turn the tie around. The first goal for France came in the second half when Michael Olise score in the 52nd minute to get the 2-0 deficit down to just one goal. In the 80th minute, Ousmane Dembele who has been in red hot form recently, scored the second goal for France in the 80th minute to get the aggregate score to 2-2.
Following this, the match went on with either sides not scoring any goals even in the 30 minutes extra time that was provided.
Following this, the match went into a penalty shootout with France winning the clash.
Kylian Mbappe has been in out of form for his country. Kylian Mbappe has now not scored a goal for France in the last 7 matches. This has been his longest streak of going goalless for France. His current goal tally remains stuck at 48 goals for the national team.
Kylian Mbappe however for his club Real Madrid has been in fine form with already having 31 goals in this season so far.
France will now play Spain in the semi-finals of the UEFA Nations League.
