After playing a crucial role in Paris Saint-Germain's first Champions League title, Ousmane Dembélé won the Ballon d’Or. The 28-year-old French footballer was crowned in the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, France. The PSG star raced past Barcelona's Lamine Yamal and his teammate Vitinha to win the prestigious trophy. In the 2024/25 season, Dembélé delivered 35 goals and 16 assists in 53 official matches. In his 15 UEFA Champions League appearances, he scored 8 goals and 6 assists.
'It’s incredible to win a trophy like this. I worked for the team to help win PSG’s first Champions League. To then be rewarded with an individual trophy like the Ballon d’Or is truly exceptional,' said Dembélé after the win. Dembélé has now become the sixth Frenchman to bag the accolade. Lamine Yamal also reacted to finishing behind the PSG star and said that he needs to work harder.
Liverpool Respond To Mohamed Salah Ballon d'Or Snub
Despite having a stupendous 2024/25 season, Mohamed Salah failed to enter the top three of the Ballon d'Or Ranking. Salah played a crucial role in The Reds winning the Premier League title last year. It was a fourth-placed finish for the Liverpool No.11 despite delivering a combined 57 goals and assists last season. Number four is the highest that the Egyptian ever finished in the rankings of the Ballon d'Or.
