PSG Inching Closer To Record Breaking 13th Ligue 1 Title Following Dominant 3-1 Win Over Marseille In 'Le Classique'

Paris Saint Germain look like a team reborn in the 2024-25 season as they have been performing at another level. Paris Saint Germain recently eliminated Liverpool from the UEFA Champions League after a hard fought victory and have been absolutely dominating the French league Ligue 1. Paris Saint Germain who are now in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League as they still hunt for their first title faced off against Marseille in their Ligue 1 match which is more commonly known as ‘Le Classique’. 

PSG Win Le Classique Against Marseille To Further Dominate Ligue 1 

Paris Saint Germain in their match against Marseille ran through their opponents in the Le Classique. PSG defeated Marseille which is the only French club to win a UEFA Champions League by a score of 3-1 in their highly anticipated Ligue 1 clash. PSG who are currently holding a strong lead at the top of the table made easy work of second placed Marseille.

Paris Saint Germain scored an early goal in the 17th minute thanks to French winger and star player Ousmane Dembele. Left back Nuno Mendes doubled PSG's lead right before half time as he scored in the 42nd minute. 

Marseille Score Two Goals In The Second Half But With A Twist 

At the start of the second half, Marseille got a goal back as Amine Gouiri scored to get the score line to 2-1. It continued to be an interesting game from there on up until the 76th minute when Pol Lirola of Marseille put the ball in the back of his own net giving PSG the third goal of the match.

With the win against Marseille in ‘Le Classique’, Paris Saint Germain now have 68 points to their name from 26 games. They hold a 19 point lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table with Marseille in second place with 49 points.
