Mohun Bagan vs Mumbai City FC witnessed six red cards in a single match
It was not supposed to be an easy match by any means for the visitors who has never defeated Mumbai in the ISL so far. But they had a good start courtesy of Jason Cummings who tapped into the net from a Liston Colaco cross. But Mumbai held their nerve as they restored parity with Greg Stewart equalised for the home side.
Bipin Singh scored the winner his shot deflected off Brendan Hamill and looped over Vishal Kaith who had nothing to do with the goal. Things started to heat up as Akash Mishra was sent off for his lunge on Manvir Singh. Mohun Bagan exploited the loopholes and took the lead at the stroke of 25 minutes.
Bipin Singh turned provides just before the break as Stewart rose high to meet his cross. Asish Rai was the second casualty as he was given the marching order for his dangerous tackle on Pereytra Diaz. Liston Colaco followed suit soon after as he was given a straight red for showing dissent to the referee after Subhasish Bose's foul on Valpuia.
Bipin's winner in the 73rd minute didn't bring down the curtain completely as Stewart was booked for a dive in the penalty box and left the pitch. But the replay showed he was legitimately tripped inside the box by a Mohun Bagan player. As soon as the referee blew the final whistle two sides of players got involved in a ruckus and the match referee showed two red cards to Mumbai's Vikram Pratap Singh and Mohun Bagan's Hector Yuste.
