Ex-Formula One Team Owner And Media Personality Eddie Jordan Passes Away At 76 Due To Cancer

Eddie Jordan was the owner of F1 team Jordan which operated in Formula One in the 1990s and 2000s.

Former Formula One team owner and a senior personality in the sport, Eddie Jordan has passed away at the age of 76 due to cancer. Eddie Jordan was one of the most well known faces in Formula One and had a massive hand in several Formula One moves even after he had sold his team. He was also a popular F1 pundit. According to a statement released by his family, Eddie Jordan passed away peacefully with his family next to him in Cape Town, South Africa. 

Eddie Jordan Passes Away At 76 Due To Cancer 

Former Formula One team owner Eddie Jordan has passed away at 76 after a long and tough battle with cancer. He had been under treatment for bladder and prostate cancer. This cancer had further spread to his spine and pelvis. In a statement released by Eddie Jordan's family they stated that he passed away peacefully in Cape Town.

“Passed away peacefully with family by his side in Cape Town,” said the family in their statement.

“EJ brought an abundance of charisma, energy and Irish charm everywhere he went. We all have a huge hole missing without his presence. He will be missed by so many people, but he leaves us with tonnes of great memories to keep us smiling through our sorrow,” Eddie Jordan's family further added in their statement following his passing. 

Eddie Jordan's Massive Influence On Formula One

Eddie Jordan has had a massive influence on Formula One throughout the years. He is responsible for getting the first Indian driver into Formula One when he signed Narain Karthikeyan to his Jordan F1 team in 2005. Eddie Jordan also handed Michael Schumacher his Formula One debut when he had the 7-time World Champion drive for his team in a one-off Belgian Grand Prix.

In more recent news, he also acted as the manager of Adrian Newey as the Red Bull design guru left for Aston Martin.
