Lewis Hamilton shocked the world in 2024 when he announced that he will be leaving Mercedes after spending several years with the team and will be driving for Ferrari from 2025 onwards. There were a lot of expectations from Lewis Hamilton's first race in a Ferrari heading into the Australian Grand Prix weekend. During qualifying, Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari could only manage a P8 but had high hopes for the race. This could not be so as Lewis Hamilton in his first race with Ferrari was left fuming as he finished P10 and could only gain a single point.
Lewis Hamilton was left fuming after his first race with Ferrari after he could manage a P10. During the race it was visible that Lewis Hamilton was getting annoyed by the constant radio messages from the pit wall and wanted to be left alone. Following the end of the race, Lewis Hamilton gave a harsh verdict during his post race interview.
"It was very tricky and went a lot worse than I thought it would go. The car was really, really hard to drive today. For me, I'm just grateful I kept it out of the wall because that's where it wanted to go most of the time. A lot to take from it and just getting acclimatized with the new power unit in the wet conditions," said Lewis Hamilton in the post race interview with SkySports.
Lewis Hamilton during his post race interview further opened up on how the Ferrari car is very different and the troubles he is facing with the car. He revealed that the car requires a different setup and a different steering wheel set up which also made it a bit difficult for the 7-time Champion.
"The settings it requires are different, and a different way of driving and a different set-up on the steering wheel. I hung out as long as I could, and got in the lead at one point. Just the guidance with how much more rain was coming was missing there, so I think we missed out," Lewis Hamilton further added to his statements about the Ferrari.
