The 2025 Formula One season kicked off in Melbourne, Australia with the first race taking place in tricky rain covered conditions. Following the qualifying on 15th March 2025, Lando Norris had managed to get pole position and started the race at the front of the grid. As for 7-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton who recently joined Ferrari, he could only manage a P8 qualifying. Following an intense qualifying on Saturday, the race was much more action packed with heavy rain covering the track.
In these tricky conditions, McLaren driver Lando Norris converted his pole position into a race win to start the 2025 season on a high.
McLaren driver Lando Norris picked up a massive win in the Australian Grand Prix to start his 2025 F1 season on a high. Defending world champion Max Verstappen finished second in his Red Bull and the last step of the podium was taken by Mercedes' George Russell.
Lando Norris during the race came under pressure from his teammate Oscar Piastri but that was quickly resolved following team orders asking Piastri to hold position. In the wet and wild race, Oscar Piastri and his McLaren spun leading to the Aussie driver dropping down the order. He managed to make a comeback to finish ninth and get two points for his team.
With Lando Norris finishing first and Oscar Piastri finishing ninth, McLaren finished the race weekend with a total of 27 points.
7-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton who was making his debut with Ferrari had a dismal first race with the Italian team following constant radio message from the pit team and him finishing P10 and only taking a single point from the race.
Lewis Hamilton had qualified eighth on the grid but dropped down two positions by the end of the race to finish P10. Lewis Hamilton's teammate Charles Leclerc finished P8 to wrap up a disappointing start to the 2025 season for Ferrari.
