Top-ranked Jannik Sinner defeated Novak Djokovic in straight sets to win the Shanghai Masters on Sunday. The Italian Tennis star bettered the 24-time Grand Slam champion 7-6 (4), 6-3. Sinner hit eight aces and 22 winners to four and 12, respectively, for Djokovic. The No. 1 ranked star never faced a break point. This is the Italian Tennis star's fourth ATP masters 1000 title, and he defeated a former world number one to clinch it.

Novak Djokovic to remain title-less in 2024 as Jannik Sinner clinches Shanghai Masters Title
Jannik Sinner overtook Novak Djokovic in an exciting one hour and 47 minute encounter. The Italian won an exciting opening set to improve his tie-break record this year to 24-8. In the first few games of the second set, he then sprinted to a decisive 4-1 lead.
“It was a very tough match, obviously, playing against Novak is one of the toughest challenges we have. I’m very happy with how I handled the situation. He was serving great the first set, I couldn’t find a way to break him. I played a really good tie-break which gave me confidence to start off well in the second set.
“It’s tough to tell you a secret about [Djokovic] because he doesn’t have any weaknesses. You have to try and use the small chances that he gives you, but there are not many during the match. He is a legend of our sport, he’s very tough to play against, so I am very happy,” Sinner said after the match.
Novak Djokovic has to stay without a title in the 2024 season as apart from the Paris Olympics gold medal, he hasn't clinched any majors title this year. He also missed out on the aim of winning his 100th tour-level title. he could have reached the elite 100 title club, which has Jimmy Connors with 109 titles and Roger Federer with 103 title wins. He missed out on the feat and has to wait until next year to make it happen.
