WWE SmackDown Results: John Cena gets surprise help from a fan favorite superstar

Ahead of the final week before the WWE Fastlane, the Friday Night SmackDown showcased a variety of matches and segments. John Cena yet again appeared at the event. Moreover, Rey Mysterio squared off against Santos Escober in the United States Championship match. Thus, with so much scheduled, let's take a look at what transpired in this edition of WWE SmackDown.

The Bloodline, kicked off the September 29, version of the Blue brand. Jimmy Uso along with Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman cut a promo regarding the upcoming fight against John Cena. The segment saw the building up of the match between Jimmy and Karn Anderson. Further action in the night saw the likes of Austin Theory, Charlotte Flair, Grayson Waller, etc. In the main event, John Cena's partner for the Fastlane gets confirmed.

WWE SmackDown Results

Jimmy Uso vs. Karl Anderson: Considering the push he has received in the last few weeks, Jimmy Uso was always expected to win, and indeed it turned out to be an easy affair for Uso. In a squash match, Jimmy got the win via a pinfall.

Austin Theory vs. Cameron Grimes: In the second match of the night, Austin Theory came face to face in the ring against Cameron Grimes. Much like the Jimmy Uso fight, the result in this match was largely expected. With an A-Town Down, Theory picked up the win.

Rey Mysterio (c) vs. Santos Escobar (WWE United States Championship): Rey Mysterio faced fellow LWO ally Santos Escober, and the US Championship was on the line. It was an even contest but Rey Mysterio got the last laugh. He picked up the win following the iconic 619. After the match, Mysterio extended his hand to Escobar as a show of respect. Before anything could happen The Street Profits came in and cleared the ring.

Bayley vs. Charlotte Flair: Following a tense mic segment, the action between the Queen and Role Model began. Bayley dominated the initial proceedings but given how past weeks have gone down, the eventual winner was always going to be Charlotte Flair.

LA Knight becomes John Cena's partner: In a typical main event, John Cena made his way to the ring and announced that he would take on Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa at Fastlane. He made it known that if he could not find a partner then he was willing to compete in a handicap match. In comes the Bloodline, and action began. The numbers game got the better of Cena again but LA Knight came to the rescue. Cena and Knight made Sikoa and Uso retreat. Knight signed the contract and became the official tag team partner of John Cena for the Fastlane event.
