New Delhi: The Indian Government has issued an advisory for the citizens warning against possible breach in Apple devices which could open the door for potential spoofing attacks. Centre’s Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued the advisory after it flagged vulnerabilities in Samsung devices.
The Centre in its advisory said. “Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Apple products which could allow an attacker to access sensitive information, execute arbitrary code, bypass security restrictions, cause denial of service (DoS) conditions, bypass authentication, gain elevated privileges and perform spoofing attacks on targeted systems.”

The affected products include iOS, Apple watchOS, iPadOS, tvOS and Apple Safari versions and various Mac versions.
How did the investigation begin?
The advisory by the central body comes after the Ministry of Electronics and Information technology (MeitY) initiated an investigation. After Apple’s notification to Indian users of a “state-sponsored attack” which popped on their devices, the Ministry sent a notice to Apple on October 31 regarding CERTY-In’s intentions of investigating.

Steps to followed to be safe
To safeguard onself from the vulnerabilities, CERT-In has advised the Apple users to immediately ap[ply necessary software updates. “Users are advised to update the latest OS patches,” said the advisory.
