Amazon Prime Video to introduce ads starting January 29

Amazon has officially announced the incorporation of advertisements into its popular Prime Video streaming service. The implementation is set to commence on January 29, 2024, impacting both annual Prime members, paying $139, and stand-alone Prime Video subscribers at $8.99 per month.
The company assures customers that the introduction of "limited" advertisements will not result in a change to the current price of their Prime membership, currently set at $14.99 monthly or $139 annually. However, for those who prefer an ad-free experience, Amazon offers an alternative – an additional $2.99 per month for a commercial-free subscription.
Amazon aims to distinguish itself by committing to "meaningfully fewer ads than linear TV and other streaming TV providers," aligning with the broader trend in the industry. The decision follows Amazon's September 2023 announcement, signaling a shift in its approach to streaming content.
