Google Maps Rumoured To Recieve “Popular” Dishes Enhancement In The Near Future

The next time you desire to check out a restaurant, then Google Maps could tell what the specialities of that place are. This is courtesy a speculated “Popular” Dishes functionality within the Menu tab.

The next time you desire to check out a restaurant, then Google Maps could tell what the specialities of that place are. This is courtesy a speculated “Popular” Dishes functionality within the Menu tab. 

Now, as per 9to5Google, that quotes tweets by apparent beta testers, images of dishes that are gaining customer traction – based on reviews, would be crowdsourced and displayed whenever users resort to a search. Rumour mills are also rife about these images being displayed in the Most Popular tab in a Material Design-like Theme.  

These are also said to include options to navigate to reviews via links displayed with the images. The feature could be in testing now and is certainly not public. Also, once the feature is more widely rolled out, then it is also speculated that there would be a “Suggest an Edit” option to key in the name of the dishes that are popular.  

 Hence, you could check out Google Maps for the Popular Tab (within the Menu tab) on a regular basis; do let us know if the functionality is available; also if you have registered as a beta tester, do check out the functionality. 

In related developments, Google Maps also recently received an update wherein the charging points applicable to Electric Vehicles (EV) are displayed across a particular route. Though this development is applicable to users in the United States of America (USA) and the United Kingdom (UK), it represents an important development as the global ecosystem is now looking at sustainability in the electric vehicles scheme of things as far as transportation is concerned. Charging ports by SemaConnect, EVgo, and Chargemaster charging stations would be displayed in the US.
