A Philips LED TV costing INR 9999 ($143) is now official, and comes straight after the launch of the most affordable television in the world the Detel D1 that costs just INR 3999 ($57). Hence, we cannot help but potentially state that the economical television segment in India is potentially set for a larger boost in the near future.

USP of Philips’ latest 22-inch INR 9999 TV is that it is built with the LED technology; not LCD as that of Detel D1. If you are alright with using 22-inch TVs, then the Philips INR 9999 device would be available at both online as well as offline platforms beginning from the second week of December 2018.

The 22-inch TV is manufactured by TPV Technologies, that has tie-ups with Philips with respect to brand licensing, also come with Pixel Precise HD engine that should offer for relatively sharper pictures and precise rendering of images.

Apart from the 22-inch TV, Philips also introduced other television models whose size go all the way up till 65-inches.This is a 4K-enabled Smart TV that is priced at INR 1,50,000 built to feature Micro Dimming functionality..

Now, a notable aspect here is the fact that with manufacturers such as Philips following the affordable TVs trend which seemingly is set to take the Indian affordable TV buyers’ minds by storm, it should not be an exaggeration to state that other biggies viz Samsung, Panasonic, and Sony could take up the trend with increased affordable yet feature-rich televisions soon.

In related developments, the Detel D1 that recently announced the $57 LCD TV is letting early adapters purchase the device for a an additional discount of INR 1000; over the original INR 4999 pricing of the Detel D1. Here, the key factor to note is that affordable consumer electronics devices have been gaining traction relatively rapidly over the years; but, do you think that they would sustain in the long term?
