It seems that incumbent telco Vodafone has come out with yet another lower denomination prepaid recharge plan. This is the Rs 39 recharge scheme. Here, it is worth remembering that the telco already has the Rs 35 and the Rs 20 minimum recharge plans which let subscribers keep their numbers intact.

The Rs 39 plan for a selected few now

Now, as per a TelecomTalk report, the new Rs 39 plan could be limited currently to select telecom circles. As far as benefits are concerned, the plan is said to offer 100 MB data, full talk-time and a validity of 28 days. At this point in time, when we checked out the official eRecharge portal of Vodafone, we could not find the Rs 39 plan for many circles. Hence, the plan could be well a trial scheme active for select prepaid subscribers in select telecom circles.

Nonetheless, the Rs 39 plan offers benefits and is seemingly worth considering as it offers a healthy talktime value – commensurate of the recharge amount along with data. Primarily, with its monthly validity, it also qualifies as a number-retainer plan. This could be useful for subscribers preferring to use Vodafone as a secondary SIM-card.

In related aspects, the incumbent telco has still not been levying IUC on subscribers making calls to non-Jio numbers. It has stated that unlimited calls would be retained as it is without taking their charm away. Competitor telco Reliance Jio is currently levying 6 paise per minute IUC on customers making voice calls to non-Jio networks. This telco has also come out with all-in-one plans starting from Rs 222 that allow free IUC minutes as well. Validity of this plan is 56 days allowing completely unlimited calls (including the free IUC minutes).
