If you are planning a trip to Europe this year, there is good news for you. According to recent research, there are a couple of European countries that have been very generous in granting Schengen visas. For the unversed, Schengen visa is the gateway to Europe which offers the freedom to travel within the Schengen zone. The idea is that the traveler does not need separate visas for each country.

France happens to be at the top with issuing over three crore visas, which is then  followed by Germany in second place with over two crore.

France: 3,02,53,370

Over the last 13 years, France has accounted for 23.9 per cent of all visas issued on the list. It is world famous for being a romantic destination. Cobbled town centers, castles and churches galore, France's rich cultural heritage goes back centuries.

Germany: 2,09,41,303

Germany bags the second spot in the list. Germany’s multitude of regional identities offers a plethora of distinct experiences. It offers beautiful scenery, great architecture, lively festivals, great culinary experience, and much more. 

Italy: 1,93,59,244
