No Exit Polls before November 30, states ECI

The Election Commission (ECI) has prohibited the publication, publication and dissemination of the results of exit polls for the 5 poll-bound states between 7 am on November 7 and 6 pm on November 30. According to a notification issued by the Election Commission in late October, the EC has prohibited the "conducting, publishing or publicising of exit polls by means of the printing or electronic media or by any other means whatsoever" for the period between 7 am on Tuesday, November 7, and 6 pm on Thursday, November 30, in connection with the 5 elections and the assembly by-elections in Nagaland. Citing provisions of the electoral law, the EC noted that "any person who contravenes the provisions of this section shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine or with both".
