'One of our finest no more'

Former Indian cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi passed away at the age of 77. Legendary cricketer breathed his last on October 23 after prolonged illness. Bishan Singh Bedi, a slow left-arm bowler, was one of the pioneers of spin bowling. He played Test cricket for India from 1966 to 1979 and formed part of the famous Indian spin quartet. The legendary spinner has played a total of 67 Tests and took 266 wickets. From BCCI to Jay Shah and other prominent cricketers, the cricket fraternity reacted to the demise of legendary spinner. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said that Bishan Singh Bedi’s death was a big loss to the cricket world. “Former captain of the Indian cricket team, Bishan Singh Bedi is no more with us. It is a very sad news. We stand with his family. When I used to play for Punjab, he was the coach of our Ranji Trophy team. It is a big loss to the cricket world.” said Anurag Thakur
