BENGALURU: As Bengaluru witnessed heavy rainfall and widespread waterlogging over the past week, several visuals from the city have gone viral, igniting public outrage.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted very heavy rain for Bengaluru and surrounding districts, including coastal, north interior, and south interior Karnataka, until October 18.

One viral video shows two civic workers on their hands and knees, attempting to unclog drains near Bellandur, close to the Microsoft office. The video sparked a wave of angry reactions among netizens, as the workers lacked basic protective equipment.

The caption accompanying the video read: "Civic workers need shoes, torch, jacket, and a helmet. These are basic things for their safety. They aren’t going to the stadium to play cricket that you hand them over a t-shirt @BBMPCOMM @DKShivakumar."

WATCH THE VIDEO:

An angered user commented, "On paper, they already have all the equipment required for safety & hygiene."

Another added, "Shame that they are not provided with equipment like shovels, pans, wheelbarrows, etc. They are forced to use their hands."

Visuals of Manyata Tech Park, one of India's largest office hubs, submerged in water after the city experienced incessant rain since Monday night, also captured the internet's attention. Several social media users sarcastically referred to the tech park as a "swimming pool."

One video showed vehicles attempting to naigvate through ankle-deep water as the rains continued to shower the Silicon Valley.

A user wrote, "All the money but no planning, humbled by nature."

Another opined, "Looks like Mother Nature decided to take matters into her own hands and give the tech park a makeover!"

A third user shared a personal experience: "I saw this firsthand yesterday... Moved from EGL to MTP… God, what a nightmare it was. Our execs from the US were stunned to see all this! They walked back to Hilton."
