Viral: Following his decision to pose for a picture with a child who has Down syndrome, a London member of the King's Guard has garnered accolades and won hearts. The soldier made an exception for the young man, despite the King's Guard's fierce reputation and lack of generosity— they are probably most known for yelling at tourists.
Soldier: Full of Generosity
The soldier stepped toward them to help get a better image as the child approached to take a picture with his guardian, Mike van Erp. The youngster and van Erp appeared surprised at first, but they soon saw the soldier's kind act. Later on in the video, the soldier goes back to his regular duties, obliging the other tourists who approach him for a picture.
Van Erp, better known online as Cycling Mikey the Unspeakable, clarified some misunderstandings regarding the video by using Twitter. At first, the information was incorrect. Van Erp clarifies, "The young man has Down syndrome; he is not autistic. I’m also not his dad, although I’d be proud to be." The video was first posted on June 8 of last year and has received over 32 million views.
