Communication Lost with Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah and Other Senior Leaders: Report
Israel Hezbollah War: Latest reports suggest that all communication with Hassan Nasrallah has been lost along with other senior Hezbollah leaders.
Beirut: It is almost a year since the Israel Hamas War began and on Friday, Israel launched its biggest airstrike ever on Beirut in Lebanon, in a bid to eliminate Hassan Nasrallah, the Chief of Hezbollah. Amid constant strikes, there are reports that communication with Hassan Nasrallah has been lost.
Communication with Hassan Nasrallah Lost Amid Israeli Strikes
Several Israeli media have reported that Hassan Nasrallah was killed in the heaviest Israeli attack in Lebanon since the 2006 war, the day Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to keep the momentum going in Southern Lebanon until Hezbollah is weakened, during his powerful speech at the general assembly of the United Nations.
Amidst this news, there are reports that all communication has been lost with Hassan Nasrallah and also with other senior leaders of Hezbollah.
However, the suspense looms over the death of the Hezbollah chief with several foreign media not confirming his death, unlike the Israeli media.
Israel Strikes ‘Hezbollah Terrorist Targets’ in Lebanon's Beirut
In a press briefing, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) has said, “As part of the extensive aerial operation to degrade Hezbollah's terrorist infrastructure and capabilities, we are preparing to conduct strikes on strategic assets that Hezbollah has hidden underground beneath three buildings in the heart of the Dahieh in Beirut. In recent days, we have exposed how Hezbollah hides its weapons in homes and villages across southern Lebanon and in the Beqaa Valley. Now, we will reveal how they store strategic weapons under civilian buildings in the heart of the Dahieh in Beirut.”
Foreign Media Outlets Deny Elimination of Hassan Nasrallah
On Friday, the air strikes were reportedly carried out with ground-penetrating munitions known as bunker busters. In some footage, a vertical jet of flame was visible as a bomb appeared to explode beneath the ground.
Israeli media reported that Nasrallah was the target and that the military was checking whether he had been hit. Other media outlets quoted Hezbollah sources saying he was “alive and well”. Late on Friday, the militant group’s media office said that there was “no truth to any statement” about the Israeli attack on Beirut’s southern suburbs, without specifying what statements it was referring to.
The strikes came shortly after the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu , told the UN general assembly in a bellicose speech marked by the walkout of dozens of diplomats that Israel’s campaign against Hezbollah would continue despite international efforts to secure a three-week ceasefire.
