‘Curse of October 7 Will End Soon’: Israeli PM Netanyahu’s Stern Warning To Iran At UNGA
In a warning to Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday said that the ‘curse of October 7’ will end soon.
New York: In an address filled with stern warning to Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday said that the ‘curse of October 7’ (the day when Hamas attacked Israel) will end soon adding that any strike on Tel Aviv would be met with a strong response.
Addressing the 79th session of UNGA, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said, “I have a message in this assembly, we are winning and if you strike us we will strike you back. The curse of October 7 will end soon.”
Israel Defending Itself Against Iran Over 6 War Fronts
Netanyahu further highlighted how Iran and its “proxies” targetted Israel since October 7, 2023.
“The curse of October 7 began when Hamas invaded Israel from Gaza but it did not end there. Israel was forced to defend itself on six war fronts all organised by Iran. On October 8, Hezbollah attacked us from Lebanon, since then they have fired over 8,000 rockets at our towns, cities, and civilians. Two weeks later Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen launched drones and missiles at Israel. Iran’s Shia militias have attacked Israel over a dozen times now. Palestinian terrorists supported by Iran are attacking us,” he said.
He also put a choice before the world to choose between Israelis ‘map of blessings’ for the Middle East, Indian Ocean, and Europe or Iran's ‘map of curse’, amid the ongoing war with Hamas and Hezbollah.
Netanyahu showed two maps – one of Israel's ‘map of blessings’ proposing a business corridor connecting the Indian Ocean, the Middle East, and Europe and the other – ‘map of curse’ filled with terror states including Iran, Iraq, Hamas, and Hezbollah.
Netanyahu began his address by saying, “I have decided to come here to set the record straight against all the lies being spread at the UNGA about my people and country adding he's here to speak for his nation, truth and peace.” Israel has made peace and will make peace again, as it's engaged in war with Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran in the Middle East.
He also said that the long arm of Israel can reach anywhere in Tehran.
What Happened on October 7, 2023
On the morning of October 7, Hamas-led Palestinian armed groups launched multiple coordinated attacks on various targets, including civilian residential areas, social events, and Israeli military bases in southern Israel near the Gaza Strip. They targeted at least 19 kibbutzim, 5 moshavim (cooperative communities), the cities of Sderot and Ofakim, as well as two music festivals and a beach party. The fighting continued throughout much of the day and, in some instances, extended even longer.
Across many attack sites, Palestinian fighters fired directly at civilians, often at close range, as they tried to flee, and at people driving through the area. The attackers hurled grenades, shot into shelters, and fired rocket-propelled grenades at homes. They set houses on fire, burning and choking people, and forcing out others whom they shot or captured. They took dozens hostage and killed many others.
The actions of Hamas resulted in an all-out attack response by Israel both through airstrikes and ground offensive in Palestine.
