Commenting on the low birthrate in Italy, Tesla CEO Elon Musk urges Italians “to make more Italians”. The Tesla CEO was the star guest at an annual conference organised by Italian premier Giorgia Meloni's Brother of Italy Party. The event was held on Saturday against the backdrop of an ice-skating rink and an ancient castle in Rome. The billionaire was personally invited by the Italian premier who sat in the front row while Musk made the remarks.

During his address, the SpaceX CEO urged the crowd to “make more Italians" to safeguard the country's culture, CNN reported. The conference in which Musk gave the proclamation was called the Atreju conference and it was started as an annual event by Meloni in 1998. Thanking Musk for being part of the event, the Italian premier called it an opportunity to discuss the dangers of Artificial Intelligence. "@elonmusk
's participation in #Atreju was also an opportunity to discuss together the benefits and risks of artificial intelligence and the new perspectives linked to Starlink, the SpaceX satellite system," the Italian premier wrote on X, formally known as Twitter. “Thank you, Elon for taking part in this very successful edition of our event,” she added.

Who all came to the event

Apart from Musk, this year's event was graced by Spanish populist party Vox member Santiago Abascal and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. However, it was Musk who stirred the major headlines with his provocative remarks. During an interview with an Italian journalist following the event, Musk said that the “woke mind virus” is gripping the United States and warned people to “stay away” from it, CNN reported. During the news conference, he also spoke about the future benefits of being a multiplanet species along with the benefits of legal immigration. Irregular immigration is one of the biggest political issues the country is facing with over 153,000 people arriving in Italy by sea so far this year.
