French tourists circulate counterfeit money in Marrakech, arrested

The tourists utilized fake currency to settle hotel bills and various other services.

On Monday, police in Marrakech apprehended three French tourists, aged 29 and 30, on suspicion of possessing and circulating counterfeit banknotes. 

The tourists utilized fake currency to settle hotel bills and various other services as well.

As per a security source, the individuals in question employed multiple forged foreign currency banknotes to settle service bills at a hotel in Marrakech. The source further mentioned that subsequent searches and investigations resulted in the identification and apprehension of the suspects, who were found in possession of an additional item. 

During the search operations, the police uncovered 25 counterfeit Euro bills, as reported.

The accused individuals underwent a judicial inquiry under the oversight of the public prosecutor's office to elucidate the particulars of the case and ascertain any potential connections with counterfeiting networks.

To probe the issue and assess its possible consequences, the defendants underwent a judicial investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor's office.

The public prosecutor's office has initiated an inquiry into their purported engagement in a case of possessing and circulating counterfeit notes. Investigators are also seeking to ascertain the potential implications of the incident with the networks of counterfeiters, as per the reports.
