Washington: The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will close the initial registration period for the fiscal year 2025 H-1B cap at noon (ET) on Monday, March 24. This marks the end of the 14-day window, during which prospective petitioners and representatives have been able to register for the highly sought-after work visa.
Once the registration period ends, USCIS will notify applicants with at least one registration in their account. The notification process will be completed by March 31.
After the initial registration closes, selected beneficiaries can proceed with filing their H-1B cap-subject petitions for FY 2026. USCIS has set the petition filing window at a minimum of 90 days. This step is crucial for applicants as it moves them closer to securing the H-1B work visa, which allows highly skilled foreign workers to be employed in the United States.
The exact date for the FY 2027 H-1B registration period remains uncertain. However, based on past trends, it is expected to take place in March 2026. USCIS recommends checking their official website regularly for updates on registration dates and procedures.
For the FY 2026 H-1B cap season, each registration costs $215 per beneficiary. Applicants and their representatives must use the USCIS online system to electronically submit their registrations during the selection process.
