The recent invitation extended by President Vladimir Putin to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a visit to Russia next year holds significant diplomatic weight. The invitation, accompanied by warm words from Putin during the meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, underscores the enduring friendship between the two nations.

"We will be glad to see our friend, Mr. Prime Minister Modi in Russia," Putin told Jaishankar.

The annual summit between Prime Minister Modi and President Putin serves as the cornerstone of their strategic partnership, marking the highest institutional dialogue mechanism. 

With 21 summits held alternately in India and Russia, this ongoing tradition highlights the depth of their diplomatic ties. The upcoming summit, expected next year, reaffirms the commitment to regular high-level engagements.

President Putin emphasized the steady growth in trade, highlighting the resilience of their economic collaboration.

"Our trade turnover is growing, for the second year in a row at the same time and at a steady pace. The growth rate this year is even higher than in the last year," he said.
