A Jack Russell hybrid has been rescued from a dog shelter by United Kingdom Prime Minister and his girlfriend Carrie Symonds and brought to 10 Downing street after being deserted by dog breeders.

10 Downing Street has a new resident

Brought in a red-colored bakset, the puppy looked scared as he prepared to acquaint himself with his new surroundings after being rescued from Friends of Animals Wales in Rhondda.

Mr. Johnson's partner, Carrie Symonds confirmed the dog's name by sending out a tweet "Meet our gorgeous little rescue puppy, Dilyn".

Dilyn will be neighbors with Larry the cat who is Chief Mouser to the Cabinet office of the United Kingdom.

Lucy's Law

TV vetenarian Marc Abraham helped Carrie to get in touch with Friends of Animals Wales. The Wales-based shelter has been determined to spread the word on Lucy's law that aims to abolish puppy breeding farms that fail to provide a safe environment that caters to the psychological, physical, and emotional needs of the dogs.

Eileen Jones, the Founder of the Friends of Animals shelter, had sent Boris Johnson a list of dogs to select from, but it was Dylin who got lucky.

According to Marc Abraham, Carrie Symonds is an ardent supporter of Lucy's law. Symonds and her partner have adopted a dog who otherwise would have been put down.

A tweet from Larry the Cat's official Twitter account said: "Confirmation the Downing Street is going to the dogs..."

Eileen Jones of FAOW said it was a miracle that the Jack Russell pup has got such a great family to be with. She further added that Carrie Symonds always fought for animal welfare and they were absolutely thrilled a dog who previously had an uncertain future will now have a family who loves him unconditionally.

Lucy's law that aims at a ban on puppy farms not adhering to the rules set for providing a safe environment will come into effect in the United Kingdom from next year while the government of Wales has also planned on adopting the law but has not quite set a date. She further added that the cruelty that these animals face cannot be explained unless someone sees it in person. Lastly, she wished Carrie and Mr. Johnson to have a time filled with love and happiness.
