After the missing report was filed, the officers carried out extensive enquiries, watched hours of CCTV footage, spoke to witnesses and analysed phone and financial data. Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway, responsible for local policing in Tower Hamlets called the death extremely tragic and sent out condolences to Bhatia's family and friends. “This is an extremely tragic outcome and is not the news we were hoping to give to Gurashman’s family and friends.
