After a judge on Tuesday turned down the request of ex US president Donald Trump’s attorney’s request to postpone his scheduled testimony in New York fraud case, the Republican leader took to Truth Social to demean the ‘sham and rigged trial.’

Judge ‘should be thrown off the bench’: Trump

Trump’s lawyer Chris Kise submitted a ‘lengthy request’ to the New York court to delay his testimony that was scheduled for Monday. The appeal was, however, rejected. Angst laden Trump lashed out on his microblogging platform, saying that judge Arthur Engoron must be ‘sanctioned’ and that he should be “thrown off the ‘bench.’”

Trump’s lawyer had requested to postpone the former president’s testimony until the appeals court reviewed the gag order Judge Engoron imposed on the former president. “Absolutely not. No way. No how. It’s a nonstarter,” Engoron was quoted as telling Kise, according to The Messenger outlet. He further stated, “You tried and I gave it a deep thought, as well.” Judge Engoron reportedly told Trump’s attorney that the ex president’s son Eric Trump will no longer be a part of the defence team. Eric’s testimony was scheduled for Wednesday.

Trump lashed out on Truth Social, revealing that it was him who sought Eric’s cancellation. “I told my wonderful son, Eric, not to testify tomorrow at the RIGGED TRIAL brought about by A.G. Letitia James’ campaign promise that, without knowing anything about me, ‘I WILL GET TRUMP!’”

The former president on the US continued his verbal onslaught against James saying, “she ran for A.G., then Governor of New York, and lost! Eric has already testified, PERFECTLY (Unlike their STAR witness-who admitted he lied!), so there is no reason to waste any more of this Crooked Court’s time on having him say the same thing, over and over again, as a witness for the defense (us!). His young life has already been unfairly disturbed and disrupted enough on this corrupt Witch Hunt. Besides, I will be testifying on Monday in this shameful, NO JURY ALLOWED ‘TRIAL.’”

Trump argued that the gag order was imposed on him in the fraud case because “they’re afraid to have me speak.” The court reinstated the gag order on Trump last week in $250 million civil business fraud case in New York that banned him from making any derogatory remarks or public statements about the staff of Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron, who is presiding the trial.

The initial order was instated after the former president repeatedly verbally attacked judge’s principal law clerk, Allison Greenfield. Judge Engoron said that his chambers were “inundated” with threats and harassment against him during Trump’s fraud trial and that Greenfield received ‘hundreds of threatening messages.’ Trump’s attorney Christopher Kise had agreed that the appeals court’s ruling marked “tragic day for the rule of law” and that it was "hard to believe this is happening in America.”
