A gripping video captures a Florida man trapping an alligator inside a garbage bin.
While Florida is renowned for its sunny beaches and vibrant coral reefs, it also harbors another resident that frequently makes headlines: the American alligator.
Flourishing in the state's freshwater marshes, swamps and lakes, they boast an estimated population of 1.25 million, constituting a quarter of the 5 million alligators spread across the southeastern United States.
Due to the substantial alligator population in Florida, interactions between residents and these formidable neighbors occur quite frequently. News stories and videos consistently capture a variety of encounters, spanning from amusing to tense, illustrating the dynamic relationship between Floridians and the state's abundant alligators.
The internet is currently buzzing with renewed attention to an old viral video showcasing a human-alligator encounter. The footage depicts a Florida man trying to trap an alligator that had entered a residential area into a garbage bin.
The individual featured in the video is 27-year-old Eugene Bozzi, who is observed approaching an alligator with an open trash container. As Mr. Bozzi advances, the alligator slowly withdraws and in the audio, he can be heard saying, "Let me know when the head goes inside."
Successfully, Mr. Bozzi trapped the reptile inside the container by lifting it and closing the lid, prompting cheers from nearby onlookers witnessing the action.
Wheeling the bin down to a nearby lake, Mr. Bozzi released the alligator into the water, where the gator swiftly moved away.
