Moscow: A simulated video showing a catastrophic nuclear strike on London, leading to over 800,000 deaths and two million injuries, was aired on a pro-Putin TV channel in Russia.

The 4-minute video, with English commentary, suggests that measures are being taken against the UK for permitting Ukraine to deploy Storm Shadow missiles against targets in Russia.

According to the video, the epicenter of the nuclear attack has been set at Westminster in London.

“People won’t feel anything since nerve impulsion transition is slower, the blast impact will reverberate till 5km radius.

The video further mentioned that the initial impact of the nuclear attack would result in the deaths of more than 200,000 people in London and radiation would cause third-degree burns to the people.

“Another 450,000 will die due to radiation and burns,” the commentator mentioned.

“The shock waves generated by the nuclear blast will also damage infrastructure in London,” it added.

The simulated video further pointed out that London is not designed to survive such disasters.

“11 of 20 major hospitals won’t survive and remaining hospitals won’t be able to cope with the number of victims,” it mentioned.

Zelenskyy Says UK-US Not Allowing Usage of Long-Range Weapons

Earlier in August, the UK allowed Ukraine to use British weapons in operations on Russian territory,

However, the clarity on the usage of Storm Shadow missiles still remains unclear.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the United States and Britain have not authorized Ukraine to use long-range missiles on targets inside Russia.

"Neither America nor the United Kingdom gave us permission to use these weapons on the territory of Russia, on any targets, at any distance," Zelensky said earlier this week.

"I think they are worried about an escalation (of hostilities)," he added.

West Risking Nuclear War, says Putin

Earlier in February this year, President Vladimir Putin warned Western countries that sending troops to fight in Ukraine could provoke a nuclear war, emphasizing that Russia has the capability to strike targets in the West. The conflict in Ukraine has led to the most severe crisis in Moscow's relations with the West since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. While Putin has previously highlighted the risks of a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia, his nuclear warning on Thursday was one of the most direct he has issued.

Right after the war broke out between Russia and Ukraine, President Vladimir Putin ordered his country’s nuclear forces to transition to a heightened alert status known as a “special regime of combat duty.”
