Mahindra Thar.e unveiled, here's all you need to know

Mahindra launched its latest sports utility vehicle (SUV) Thar.e, during the 'FutureScape' event held in Cape Town, South Africa, on Tuesday. Details regarding the electric verison of the Thar with respect to pricing and availability were not disclosed during the event.

Thar.e design and features 

Featuring an all-wheel drive (AWD) electric powertrain and built on the INGLO-born electric platform, the Thar.e boasts an extended wheelbase and reduced overhangs for improved performance.

Designed with off-roading in mind, the Thar.e offers enhanced ground clearance and a shared battery system. Additionally, the vehicle showcases adaptable, modular, and interchangeable components.

Focus on sustainability

In a press release, Mahindra Auto highlighted the sustainability aspect of the Thar.e, showcasing the utilisation of "50 per cent recycled PET and recyclable uncoated plastics" in its construction.

Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, said in an exchange filing by the company, "Vision Thar.e is a testament to innovation and a pioneering design philosophy that is uniquely Mahindra and distinctively global. Thar.e caters to the adventurer in all of us, craving exploration without compromise. Aligned with the global movement towards responsible consumption, our focus on sustainable materials resonates with the broader shift towards being planet positive, ensuring that Thar.e is both timeless and timely."

The design of the Thar.e incorporates practical elements such as a central pivoting screen, robust grab handles, and an uncluttered layout, catering to the needs of both urban and off-road enthusiasts.
