Billionaire businessman Adar Poonawala has confirmed his interest in taking over Royal Challengers Bengaluru with a “STRONG and COMPETITIVE” bid in the coming months. The owners of RCB, Diageo, had already confirmed their intention to sell the IPL franchise a few months following their maiden IPL triumph last year.

Adar Poonawala Confirmed Intention To Buy RCB

RCB have been one of the most popular teams in IPL history, and Virat Kohli's influence has further boosted their presence on social media too. The former Indian captain has been with RCB since the inception of the IPL and hasn't
reiterated his desire to leave them.

Adar Poonawala posted on X, confirming his desire to buy the IPL 2025 champions. "Over the next few months, will be putting in a STRONG and COMPETITIVE bid for
@RCBTweets, one of the best teams in the IPL."

Vijay Mallya's UB group had owned RCB after it bought the IPL franchise for a whopping $111.6 million in 2007. But later, Diageo gradually took over the United Spirits Ltd. and RCB too came under their fold. A price hasn't been mooted, but the current owners would definitely be looking for a large chunk of profit while letting go of their prized asset.

There have been reports that RCB are seeking home venues outside Bengaluru following the stampede incident during their trophy parade at Chinnaswamy Stadium. As per reports, RCB owners want clarity over a provision which states that if anything happens in and around the stadium, the organisers will be held responsible.
