RCB Win IPL 2026: Virat Kohli is arguably the most popular cricketer in the world as he enjoys a massive global fandom which is rare to see. His stocks seemed to have doubled after he powered RCB to their second title on Sunday at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. In the summit clash against the Gujarat Titans, he carried his bat through, remaining unbeaten on 75* off 42 balls. During the belligerent knock, Kohli also hit his fastest-ever fifty in IPL history off 25 balls.
‘What a player and what a knock’
While fans from all quarters of life lauded Kohli, England football captain Harry Kane also came up with a special post.
"What a player and what a knock @virat.kohli! Congrats @royachallengers.bengaluru on making it back to back IPL titles," Kane wrote.
Kohli played a crucial role during RCB's 2026 campaign. The former RCB captain amassed 675 runs in 16 games. His runs came at a staggering strike rate of 165.85 and this includes a century and five fifties. For the unversed, Kohli is the all-time leading run-scorer in the tournament's history with 8,661 runs in 267 matches.
Kohli's brilliance in the final also helped him bag the Player of the Match award. In fact, RCB captain Rajat Patidar also lavished praise on Kohli and also confessed that the latter had helped him overcome some technical flaw during the season as well.
I got a lot of ideas and help from Kohli bhai. Whenever I see him, he's always there for the team and all players. He goes to the young players even if they're nervous approaching him," Patidar said at the post-match presentation.
Kohli would next be seen playing ODIs versus Afghanistan.
