IPL 2026: Sanju Samson Roars Back Into Form With Maiden IPL Hundred For CSK vs Delhi Capitals

IPL 2026: Sanju Samson has smashed his maiden IPL ton for CSK at Chepauk against the Delhi Capitals. Sanju has looked in blazing form from the start and has finally broken his CSK drought with a bang. He brought up his century in just 52 balls.

This also happens to be the first century of IPL 2026 by any side. Sanju's return to form will be a major boost for CSK, who are still searching for their maiden win this term. They finished at the bottom of the table last term and had high hopes after bringing Sanju in a trade deal from the Rajasthan Royals.

Sanju started on an explosive note, and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad could only enjoy from the other side of the pitch. He smashed nine boundaries in the powerplay alone and went on to bring up his fifty in just 26 balls. Samson was particularly ruthless on T Natarajan and hit him for more than 33 runs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad Provides Crucial MS Dhoni Update

CSK captain offered a glimmer of hope for the supporters, insisting Dhoni is very close to return to the team.

GOn being asked about the former CSK skipper, he said, at the toss, “For those asking about MS Dhoni, he’s at the hotel watching and supporting us. But yes, very soon, you’ll see him out on the ground.”

Dhoni hasn't played a single match in IPL 2026 as he has been recuperating from a calf strain. He was seen batting extensively in the nets but hasn't been picked in the playing XI so far. He is expected to return against KKR in the next game.
