KKR Official Confirms Akash Deep's Absence In IPL 2026
According to a report by Cricbuzz, the Indian speedster will not be able to take part in IPL 2026.
"Unfortunately, he is out of the IPL, ruled out for the season," a KKR official has confirmed to Cricbuzz.
Akash Deep has always been considered injury-prone, which has forced him to miss several matches not only for Team India but also in the IPL.
The Knight Riders roped him in for Rs. 1 crore during the mini-auction ahead of IPL 2026. However, the 29-year-old did not join the Kolkata-based franchise’s camp, which began in Kolkata on March 18.
According to reports, the Indian pacer is still undergoing rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. The exact nature of the injury remains unclear, though there has been some communication from CoE managers to the Knights’ management.
Akash Deep's Numbers In IPL
Earlier in IPL 2025, Akash Deep represented the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The Lucknow-based franchise acquired the pacer for ₹8 crore during the auction ahead of the season. However, the Super Giants released him after just one year.
In IPL 2025, the 29-year-old featured in six matches, picking up only three wickets at an economy rate of 12.05 and a bowling average of 76.33. Overall, he has played 14 IPL games, claiming 10 wickets at an economy rate of 11.82 and a bowling average of 54.80.
