Mitchell Santner Out Of IPL 2026, Mumbai Indians Rope In Keshav Maharaj As Replacement
Mumbai Indians have signed Keshav Maharaj as Mitchell Santner after the Kiwi all-rounder was ruled out for the remaining IPL 2026 season.
IPL 2026: Mumbai Indians (MI) have roped in South African spinner Keshav Maharaj for the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 as Mitchell Santnerโs replacement.
The Kiwi all-rounder has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament after sustaining a left shoulder injury during MIโs clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 23.
Keshav Maharaj Joins Mumbai Indians For Rs. 75 Lakh
IPL released an official statement and confirmed that the Mumbai-based franchise have roped in Maharaj for Rs. 75 lakh.
"Mumbai Indians (MI) have signed South Africa spinner Keshav Maharaj as a replacement for Mitchell Santner, who has been ruled out of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 owing to a left shoulder injury. Santner sustained the injury during MIโs last home game against Chennai Super Kings while attempting a catch near the boundary. Maharaj, an experienced left-arm spinner, recently featured in the T20I series against New Zealand. He has featured in two IPL matches, representing Rajasthan Royals in 2024. He joins MI for a fee of INR 75 Lakh," IPL wrote in the official statement.
Santner was enjoying a stellar IPL 2026 season, and his injury comes as a big blow for the five-time champions. The 34-year-old featured in four matches in the 19th edition of the IPL, claiming five wickets at an economy rate of 8.92 and a bowling average of 25.00. He also scored 26 runs from two innings.
Across his IPL career, the Kiwi has played 35 matches, taking 30 wickets at an economy rate of 7.51 and an average of 28.66. With the bat, he has scored 136 runs from 21 innings at a strike rate of 110.56.
MI Aim To Make Comeback In IPL 2026
Mumbai Indians are not having a great season at the moment. MI have played seven matches so far, winning two and losing five.
They currently hold ninth place in the IPL 2026 standings with four points and a net run rate of -0.736.
