T20 World Cup 2026: It was a night to remember for Team India at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Not only did India beat New Zealand by 96 runs to win the T20 World Cup, but they also buried the ghosts of 2023. Not many can forget how India lost to Australia in the 2023 ODI WC final. Three years later, Suryakumar Yadav leads the side to a win at the same venue. And after the win, he stole the show with a gesture that is truly heartwarming.

Suryakumar walked to the centre of the pitch and touched the soil with his hand and then put his hand on his head in a respectful manner.

Meanwhile, captain Suryakumar has been praised throughout the successful campaign for his astute captaincy. He has led from the front, be it when India were in a tricky spot in their tournament opener against the USA or with his bowling changes in the finale against New Zealand. The Indian team deserved the trophy for playing some unbelievable cricket all along the tournament. India started the tournament as the favourites and lived up to the billing and that is heartwarming and very satisfying.

Samson Shines And How

Sanju Samson bagged the player of the tournament for his unbelievable consistency in crunch games. Samson was not in the XI at the start of the tournament, but then circumstances forced his entry and since he has not put a foot wrong. He hit a maverick 97* against West Indies in a must-win Super 8 game that helped India make the semi-final and then scored crucial 89 in the semi-final against England and finally he again scored a 89 against New Zealand in the final.
