Shortly before this article was published, the BJP's CM-pick, BS Yeddyurappa, submitted a letter to the Governor and laid claim to forming the government as the BJP has emerged as the single-largest party. He said that the Governor told him that he would take the right decision.
Meanwhile, the JD(S)' HD Kumaraswamy also arrived at Raj Bhawan after having sought an appointment a short while earlier in order to form a government with the Congress in Karnataka.

As per CVoter's final numbers, the BJP has 104 seats, the Congress has 78 and the JD(S) has 37. Three seats are held by others completing the 222 seats where polling was held.
The Congress is hopeful of its newly-announced ally JD(S) being invited to form a government with party media-in-charge Randeep Surjewala tweeting the following:
