Deepika's character is shown to be pregnant in the film and Saswata Chatterjee recently revealed that the actress, in real life, was pregnant too.
Deepika Padukone's role in Kalki 2898 AD has been earning praise from movie-goers. Riding on a positive word-of-mouth, the Prabhas-led sci-fi actioner with mythological elements has grossed over ₹700 crore globally in eight days of its release.
Deepika's character is shown to be pregnant in the film and Saswata Chatterjee recently revealed that the actress, in real life, was pregnant with her first child with husband Ranveer Singh during the movie's shoot. This led to the speculation that Deepika flaunted her real baby bump in Kalki 2898 AD and it was not prosthetics. Director Nag Ashwin's comments about the same have put rumours to rest.
What Saswata said about Deepika being pregnant during Kalki 2898 AD shoot
Saswata Chatterjee, who plays Commander Manas in the film, revealed in an interview that Deepika was pregnant in real life while filming the challenging climax scene. He also shared that Ranveer Singh was present on set during shoot.
In the scene that Saswata talked about, his character Manas gets in a tussle with Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan) and drags SU-M80 (Deepika) away by her hair. The Kahaani actor shared that for more intense sequences a body double was used. Nevertheless, it led netizens to believe that Deepika flaunted her real baby bump in the movie. However, that is not true.
Nag Ashwin reveals Deepika was in the early stages of her pregnancy during Kalki 2898 AD
In an interview, Nag Ashwin confirmed shooting with Deepika during her pregnancy. "She did actually in the end. In one of her last pickup shots, she was actually pregnant. So there were two days when her actual child also acted in the movie (laughs)," he said. Kalki 2898 AD is running in cinema halls now after releasing on June 27.
