Cannes 2025: Anupam Kher Reunites With Silver Linings Co-Star Robert De Niro, Calls Him 'Greatest Actor Of All Time' | Watch

Anupam Kher, making his Cannes debut, is all set to walk the red carpet for the world premiere of his directorial Tanvi The Great. It is his second directorial after 22 years, which holds a ‘special place in his heart’. As the film festival has entered the fourth day, the veteran actor shared a post on his social media handle posing with his long-time friend, Robert De Niro. The actor reunited with his Silver Linings co-star, and his happiness is visible in the video. He called the reunion “amazing” and congratulated the legendary actor for getting the most prestigious award, Palme d’Or, at the opening of the Cannes Film Festival.  “In Cannes: Best hug from the greatest actor of all times! It was the most amazing feeling to meet my friend #RobertDeNiro, his graceful wife #Tiffany and their beautiful daughter #Jia in #Cannes! Their love and affection touched me deeply,” he wrote.

In his post, the veteran actor revealed that he told De Niro about his film Tanvi The Great and introduced him to the leading lady, Shubhangi and other crew members. Opening up about his reaction to the film's poster, Kher shared, “Showed him the first poster (to be released tomorrow) of our film! He LOVED it. Thank you dearest Mr. De Niro for your love, warmth, that wonderful hug, the delicious lunch and your infectious BRILLIANCE over the years!” He concluded his post calling De Niro's friendship “biggest blessing”.

World Premiere of Tanvi The Great in Cannes 2025

Tanvi The Great will premiere at the Marché du Film (Cannes Film Market) on May 17 at the Cannes Film Festival. It stars Shubhangi as Tanvi, a specially able person who seems quite fascinated with army personnel, as per the teaser. The film also stars Jackie Shroff and Iain Glen in the lead roles.

The 78th Cannes Film Festival began on May 13 and will continue until May 24. So far, Indian celebs such as Urvashi Rautela, Anupam Kher, Nitanshi Goel and Chhaya Kadam have walked the red carpet. Aditi Rao Hydari, Alia Bhatt, Kiara Advani, Janhvi Kapoor, Simi Grewal and Shalini Passi are expected to walk the red carpet in the coming days.
