Year Ender 2025: This year was remarkable for Indian cinema as the box office saw some expected hits. While high-budget releases such as Game Changer and War 2 completely failed to please, smaller-budget films like Little Heart, Su From So, and Mahavatar Narsimha surprised moviegoers. Success was not limited only to Bollywood or the South; several regional movies attracted audiences to the ticketing counter across the country. Made on a budget of around ₹50 lakh, Ankit Sakhiya’s directorial was a massive success in 2025. Laalo - Krishna Sada Sahaayate becomes the 2025’s most profitable Gujarati film and the first to cross ₹100 crore globally, achieving a profit of over 18704% from a small budget at the box office records.
Su From So (Kannada)
As per reports, made on a budget of just ₹4.5 crores and minted a massive ₹92.33 crores, making a profit at 1951.7%. Su From So is a Kannada social horror-comedy that follows Ashoka (JP Thuminad), a young man living in the quiet village of Someshwara. His life takes a strange turn when the spirit of an elderly woman named Sulochana begins to haunt him, triggering a series of bizarre incidents.
Mahavatar Narsimha (Hindi)
Mahavatar Narsimha (2024) is a widely loved Indian animated mythological film based on Lord Vishnu’s Narasimha avatar. The movie got immense praise for its epic storytelling with striking animation, sound design, and VFX, making it a strong family entertainer. Made on a budget of estimated ₹15 crore, the film earned ₹247.96 crore at the box office and delivered a massive profit of 1553%.
Little Hearts (Telugu)
Little Hearts earned ₹26.47 crore and reportedly made on just ₹2 crores, delivering a massive profit of 1,223.5%. The Telugu film released in theatres across India on September 5, 2025 and starred Mouli Tanuj and Shivani Nagaram. It emerged as an unexpected hit and later premiered on ETV Win on October 1, 2025, where it streamed with an extended cut.
Saiyaara (Hindi)
Mohit Suri’s romantic musical starring Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday was a record-breaking success. Made on a budget of just ₹45 crore, the love story earned ₹337.66 crore worldwide, delivering an impressive profit of 650.3%.
Roi Roi Binale(Assamese)
This year, Indian cinema faced several major losses, one of the most painful being the tragic death of Zubeen Garg. A few days after his passing, his final film, Roi Roi Binale, was released in theatres and deeply moved his fans. Produced on a budget of reported ₹5 crore, the film went on to earn ₹30.35 crore, delivering an estimated profit of 507%.
Bou Buttu Bhuta (Odia)
As per reports, this movie was made on a budget of ₹3 crore and earned ₹16.17 crore at the box office, delivering a massive profit of 439%.
Lokah Chapter 1 (Malayalam)
Dulquer Salmaan’s movie starring Kalyani Priyadarshan had a production cost of ₹30 crore and collected ₹155.94 crore worldwide, resulting in an impressive 419.8% profit.
Kantara Chapter 1 (Kannada)
The sequel to Rishab Shetty’s movie was produced with a budget of ₹125 crore and went on to earn ₹621.56 crore at the box office, achieving a strong 397.24% profit.
Dashavatar (Marathi)
As per Koimoi, this Marathi movie was made for ₹5 crore and grossed ₹24.18 crore, securing a remarkable 383.6% profit.
