Crackdown on Corruption: RTO Inspector Caught Red-Handed For Taking Bribe of Rs 1,000

The two accused have been identified as Hitendrasinh Parmar and Dipen Rami.
The arrests followed a complaint about corrupt practices at the Gandhinagar RTO office, where officials were allegedly demanding bribes ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 1,000 for the online processing of documents.
RTO Inspector Takes Bribe, Held
According to the ACB, the operation began after a decoy was sent to the RTO office to process the lifetime tax for two commercial vehicles.
The decoy approached RTO Inspector Hitendrasinh Parmar, who directed them to his aide, Dipen Rami, a resident of Naranpura.
Once the paperwork was signed, Rami reportedly demanded Rs 1,000 from the decoy in exchange for completing the procedure. After receiving the bribe, both the inspector and Rami were caught red-handed by the ACB team, police said.
Both Parmar and Rami are now in police custody, and further investigations are underway.
Earlier, a Sub-inspector in Delhi Police was arrested for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh for clearing the name of a businessman from a case, an official statement said on Thursday.
The Central Bureau of Investigation, which laid the trap in the arrest of the accused identified as Rahul Malik, said that the cop had demanded an installment of Rs 2.5 lakh out of total Rs 14 lakh.
