Good News! Maharashtra Govt to Release Funds for 'Ladki Bahin' Scheme on Women’s Day

Mumbai: In a pivotal step towards advancing women empowerment, Cabinet Minister Aditi Tatkare has officially announced that the long-awaited disbursement of funds under the Ladki Bahin scheme in Maharashtra will take place on the eve of International Women’s Day this coming February.

The scheme, which supports women across Maharashtra, underscores the state government's ongoing commitment to enhancing financial stability and promoting the welfare of women.

‘Ladki Bahin’ Funds to be Released in February

Speaking to reporters, Minister Tatkare shared a detailed update on the "Ladki Bahin" scheme, announcing that it has successfully reached around 2.5 crore women, with an impressive 2.4 crore beneficiaries receiving support in the past month alone.

“We are resolutely committed to ensuring that this initiative continues to uplift and empower women throughout Maharashtra,” she said. The minister reassured the public that the upcoming installment scheduled for February will maintain the current level of beneficiaries, indicating a steady commitment to the program’s objectives.

However, the scheme has faced scrutiny and criticism from opposition parties, prompting Tatkare to defend its merits. “The ‘Ladki Bahin’ program has become a point of contention for our political rivals. Despite their relentless criticisms, the overwhelming support we have received from women speaks volumes about our government's dedication and efficacy in advancing this crucial initiative,” she asserted. 

Tatkare argued that the opposition's growing negativity is indicative of their disconnect with the supportive sentiment that the scheme has generated among women, particularly in light of rising support for the Maha Yuti alliance.

Timely Fund Distribution

Looking toward the future, the minister confirmed that an allocation for the next installment in March would follow a special session dedicated to the strategic planning of fund distribution. “We are determined to ensure that our beloved sisters receive their funds without delay,” Tatkare emphasized, highlighting the importance of timely support for women across the state of Maharashtra.

Additionally, in a bid to further enhance economic empowerment, Tatkare revealed aspirations to potentially increase financial support under the "Ladki Bahin" scheme to ₹2100. This proposed increase awaits the approval of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde . The Minister underscored the vital role of collective savings groups in fostering women's economic independence, reiterating the government’s dedication to augmenting women's contributions to both the state’s economy and society at large.

This scheme had proved to be boon for this Mahayuti Govt 2.0, As this scheme helped the BJP Eknath Shinde Shivsena and Ajit Pawar to gain 232 in the previous Assembly Elections .

As Maharashtra prepares to celebrate International Women’s Day, the imminent distribution of funds through the "Ladki Bahin" scheme is anticipated to serve as a significant milestone.
