Ahead of the results, National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah has ruled out any post-poll alliance with the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir. "We cannot go with the BJP. The vote which we have got here is the vote against the BJP. The difficulties they put the Muslims in, bulldozed their shops, houses, mosques and schools, do you think we will go with them?" Abdullah told PTI videos here. He said the BJP did not give a mandate to even a single Muslim in the Parliamentary election nor is there a single Muslim minister in the Union Cabinet. "I think our people will not vote for the BJP. If they (BJP) think they will form the government, then they live in cuckoo's world," the National Conference (NC) chief added.

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, which were held in three phases starting September 18, witnessed an overall voter turnout of 63.45%, settling just under the 2014 mark – 65.8%. The third phase held on October 1 recorded a voter turnout of 68.72% while the second phase recorded a voter turnout of 57.31% – lower than the phase one turnout of 61.38 per cent. The traditional boycott bastions – Sopore and Baramulla logged the highest turnout in Assembly elections in the last 30 years.

As per the Gulistan News predictions, the National Conference and the Congress are expected to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir as they are expected to cross the majority mark comfortably. The INDI Alliance is expected to secure 37 seats in the J&K assembly results, while the BJP is predicted to remain at 28-30 seats. 

After three phases of polling in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, the results for all 180 constituencies will be announced today. Vote counting will begin at 8 AM.
