Bhubaneshwar: Two persons posing as officials of Odisha Police were arrested in Bhubaneshwar, an official statement said on Monday.

They were apprehended during a routine night patrol by Saheed Nagar police in Bhubaneswar, police said.
Counterfeit Notes Recovered From Fake DSP
386 counterfeit notes of Rs 500 notes have been recovered from them, a senior official said.
The accused, Manas Ranjan Senapati (26) and Ashis Swain (23), were apprehended during a routine night patrol by Saheed Nagar police in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Commissioner S. Dev Satta Singh stated that the duo was stopped while traveling in a car for a routine check.
Senapati falsely claimed to be a probationary Odisha Police Service (OPS) officer of DSP rank, while Swain posed as a probationary constable.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that they were using fake police uniforms, forged identity cards, and manipulated photographs to impersonate legitimate officers and deceive others.
"We are investigating the case from two angles—one related to cheating by impersonation and the other regarding a fake currency racket," Singh added.
Police further said that they are also looking into the source of the counterfeit currency and whether other individuals are involved in the scam.
