Mere Yaha Bhi Ek Vande Bharat Train Shuru Kardo: PM Modi On How Peoples' Expectation Changed
PM Modi, who addressed Republic Plenary Summit 2025, spoke about how peoples' aspirations have changed, comparing Congress-led era to the present government.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday shared an anecdote saying how peoples' aspirations have changed under the present government compared to what it used to be during the Congress ' era which had crumbled the aspirations of the people. Speaking at the Republic Plenary Summit under the theme 'Limitless India', PM Modi said that Bharat is moving forward with big aspirations compared to the times of the previous governments when people used to say it works, it happens, let it be (chalta hai, hota hai, chalne do yaar).
Congress crumbled peoples' aspirations, says PM Modi
Giving an example of how less people were expecting from the government during Congress' era, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that there was a time when people used to make demands such as installing a hand pump in their regions or an MP requesting for adding a train stop to a particular station, or MPs obliging people for gas cylinders because they used to get 25 coupons as Member of Parliament and all this used to happen till 2014… because Congress had crumbled the aspirations of the people of the country, therefore, they stopped expecting anything from them.
People stopped expecting during Congress' era, says Prime Minister
Speaking further about how people had no hopes in the era of Congress-led governments, PM Modi said, “Today you look how fast the situation in the country and public expectation have changed because they know who can work and bring results. And not just the common man but even the Opposition members in the Parliament say “Modiji, yeh kyu nahi kar raho ho' (Modiji, why are you not doing a particular work). This means even they believe that only we can do work and achieve things.”
Mentioning all this, PM Modi said how the times have changed today as now people who used to demand for a train stoppage now ask “can a Vande Bharat train be run in their region too”. This change in peoples' expectations from the government shows how aspirational they have become and it also makes us happy that they expect such things from the administration.
Bharat today thinks big, aims big, achieve big, says PM Modi
Addressing a massive crowd at Republic Plenary Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that today Bharat thinks big, aims big and is achieving bigger results as he defined the aspirations of a limitless India. He told the crowd at the Republic Summit that India in the last 10 years have jumped from 11th position to 5th largest economy in the world and will soon become the third largest.
From importing things like even ‘holi ki pichkari’ (toy water gun) 10 years ago, to witness a three fold rise in toy exports from the country, the country has achieved big results.
The Prime Minister further said that India in the last decade has lifted out 25 crore people from poverty. This is a huge number as it's more than the entire population of some countries.
PM Modi also mentioned that India is among the top 5 nations in the world in terms of its solar capacity.
PM Modi praises Arnab Goswami for exposing urban naxals
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing the Republic TV’s Plenary Summit on Thursday said Naxalism was taking its last breath and nearing its end as the number of affected areas has significantly reduced to a few districts. However, the Prime Minister cautioned that Naxalism is on the verge of its end, the Left-extremism has penetrated into nation's urban centres.
During his address, PM Modi lauded Republic Media Network's Editor-in-Chief, Arnab Goswami, for taking on the responsibility of exposing urban Naxals.
