Mumbai Bungalow Heist: Valuables Worth ₹47 Lakh Stolen From Professor’s Home

Mumbai: The Mumbai Police launched an investigation after valuables worth ₹47 lakh were stolen from the bungalow of a medical college professor in Malad on Saturday.

Burglary Discovered in the Morning

The theft occurred a few days ago at the professor’s bungalow in Malad, located in Mumbai’s western suburbs. The 46-year-old professor, who teaches at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College in Sion, lived with her husband, an engineer, and other family members.

On the morning of the burglary, the family woke up to a shocking sight—the back door was broken, and their wardrobes were ransacked. Upon inspecting her cupboard, the professor realized that gold and diamond ornaments worth ₹47 lakh had been stolen. The stolen jewelry belonged to her mother-in-law and her father-in-law’s aunt.

Police Probe On

The Dindoshi police station registered the case and began analyzing CCTV footage from the area to track down the suspects. “We are working on multiple leads and gathering inputs to identify those involved in the burglary,” said an official.

The police are also questioning locals and examining past burglary cases in the area to see if there is a pattern. No arrests have been made so far, and authorities are continuing their probe.

This high-value theft has raised concerns about residential security in Mumbai’s suburban areas, prompting residents to demand increased police patrolling and stricter surveillance.
