Dubai: Indian badminton player PV Sindhu is stranded at Dubai airport, UAE, amidst ongoing conflict in the Middle East has resulted in the suspension of flight operations. This comes after US and Israel launched joint airstrikes on Iran, following which the latter launched subsequent retaliatory attacks on several countries across the Middle East.
As per reports, PV Sindhu was set to travel for the All England Open 2026 in Birmingham, UK. The tournament is set to begin on March 3. While other players went on to Birmingham, Sindhu insisted on travelling today and hence got stuck in Dubai as US and Israel launched a surprise attack on Iran.
Iran has since launched several attacks on Dubai. A huge explosion was also reported near world's tallest building Burj Khalifa, which was subsequently evacuated. Visuals also showed fire and plumes of smoke emanating from Dubai's luxury hotel, Fairmont Hotel, located on on Palm Jumeirah.
