New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta graced the ‘Limitless India’-themed Republic Plenary Summit 2025 on March 6 and made a strong pitch for better security and law enforcement, with a particular focus on women’s safety in the national capital.

Speaking at the Republic Plenary Summit, Rekha Gupta mentioned about her recent high-level meetings with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Police officials, emphasizing that ensuring women’s safety remains a top priority for both the Delhi government and the Central government.

She also stressed that after years of delays, her government, in collaboration with the central government, is now focusing on improving law and order. Additionally, she noted that the central government has invested a substantial amount of money to enhance security in Delhi.

‘No Politics, Just Safety for Delhi’ Says Rekha Gupta

During her speech, Rekha Gupta made it clear that women’s safety is her top-most priority and that no political motives are involved in this effort.

“After many years, the Delhi Chief Minister and the Home Minister sat together to discuss crime and law enforcement. Women’s safety comes first, and the central government has invested billions of rupees to improve security. This is not about politics, it’s about the safety of Delhiites.”

Women’s Empowerment is Now Real, Not Just Talk

As the event took place just before International Women’s Day, Gupta also spoke about the progress India has made in women’s empowerment. She praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi ’s government for bringing real change, particularly through the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill, a law that increases the number of seats reserved for women in Parliament and state assemblies.

"For years, many politicians spoke about women’s rights but did nothing when it actually mattered. Some even tore up the Women’s Reservation Bill. But PM Modi and the BJP made it happen.”

She also highlighted how women are now rising to top leadership positions. “India has a woman Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman , and Delhi has a woman Finance Minister, Rekha Gupta. This is the new India, where daughters are not just protected and educated but are also leading.”

Making Delhi Safer for Women

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta assured the audience that her government is committed to transforming Delhi into a world-class city where women can work, study, and live freely, without fear.

“Today, we don’t just say Beti Bachao, we say Beti Padhao and now Beti Badhao,” she added.

Path to Limitless Bharat Passes Through Limitless Delhi: Rekha Gupta

“Before 2014, India was always treated as a liability. We were known as a country of saperas. This was how we were perceived globally. In 2014, a new chapter began when PM Modi took charge. Japan and China realized the potential of their population and treated it as an asset, but India only started utilizing it after PM Modi came to power. Today, the whole world wants to connect with India. Indians feel proud when our Prime Minister stands in the front row at major global summits,” the Chief Minister said.
